Operating at the Airfield

At Oripää Airfield, club members have the opportunity to engage in gliding, motor gliding, power flying, and model aviation. Leisure activities run almost year-round (winter snow conditions may temporarily close the field) but heavily peak between April and August when the gliding season is at its busiest.

The airfield also serves as the home base for Turun Seudun Riippuliitäjät ry (Turku Region Hang Gliders) and a community of local private aviators.

Please respect other airport activities when flying past or arriving at the field. Avoid low-altitude overflights.

Oripää Airfield has four aircraft hangars. The club utilizes the light green arched hangar. In front of it sits a large paved apron where visiting pilots are requested to tie down their aircraft (taxiing from runway 14/32).

Airfield Amenities and Facilities

Available to members and, when necessary to visitors is the large club building named ”Juhala”. It comes equipped with classrooms, kitchen facilities, showers, and upstairs lodging options. After a long day of flying, visitors can relax in the small sauna or cool off in the adjacent outdoor swimming pool. A dedicated barbecue shelter is also available on-site.

Affordable accommodation is available across six club-owned cabins/barracks. Camping with tents at the campground is completely free, and a limited number of electrical hookups are available for caravans/trailers.

Please note: The airfield is private property. You must obtain permission before camping, and use of the club buildings is subject to a fee.
