Oripää Airfield Development Project 2024–2025
This project has received EU rural funding.
Project Execution: Turun Lentokerho – Åbo Flygklubb ry
Core Measures: Marketing flight operations, with an emphasis on the glider pilot training offered by Turun Lentokerho at Oripää Airfield. The goal is to enhance airfield services by expanding accommodation facilities and camping options. This will increase the utilization rate of the airfield, securing its long-term preservation. It ensures the continuity and advancement of aviation operations while simultaneously serving the surrounding region.
Action Type: Joint Projects / Coordination and Activation Projects
At Oripää Airfield, club members have the opportunity to engage in gliding, motor gliding, power flying, and model aviation. Leisure activities run almost year-round (winter snow conditions may temporarily close the field) but heavily peak between April and August when the gliding season is at its busiest.
The airfield also serves as the home base for Turun Seudun Riippuliitäjät ry (Turku Region Hang Gliders) and a community of local private aviators.
Please respect other airport activities when flying past or arriving at the field. Avoid low-altitude overflights.
Oripää Airfield has four aircraft hangars. The club utilizes the light green arched hangar. In front of it sits a large paved apron where visiting pilots are requested to tie down their aircraft (taxiing from runway 14/32).
Airfield Amenities and Facilities
